The journal has been published by Saint-Petersburg University of Management Technologies and Economics under the research and methodological guidance of Social Sciences Department of the Russian Academy of Sciences since 1995.

The Russian scientific journal “Economics and Management” is included in the lists of journals, publications in which are recognized by expert councils in Economics, Management, Computer technologies and Computer science of the Higher Attestation Commission of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation when defending dissertations for receiving post-graduate or doctoral degrees.

In 2009 the journal “Economics and Management" was awarded the laureate title of the All-Russian contest of journalists "Economic Revival of Russia" in the nomination "The Best Specialized Information and Analytical Edition on Innovation Topics".
